Property insurance companies will promote payment culture

Seeking to improve clients’ payment culture and to increase attention towards reliable clients, property insurance companies will exchange among themselves data on Lithuanian residents and companies not fulfilling their obligations to insurance companies. This function will be carried out through the Lithuanian Insurers Association defaulting debtors administration information system.
“Insurance companies are seeking to offer to their clients qualitative and not expensive services. However companies providing insurance services are confronted with not trustworthy clients, who already having financial obligations and overdues in one company, are seeking services in the other. The new insurers defaulting debtors administration information system will decrease number of persons having overdues and thus will build the solid ground for more qualitative services to clients for fair price”, says Mr. Andrius Romanovskis, Director of Lithuanian Insurers Association.

Insurers defaulting debtors administration information system will be developed and administrated by the credit bureau Creditinfo that already has developed Defaulting Debtors Administration Information System known as SAIS. This system is used by all active in Lithuania credit companies, mobile communication operators, electricity service providers and other companies. SAIS consists of data on overdues of Lithuanian residents and companies to telecommunications, utilities, financial and other sectors.

The new insurers defaulting debtors administration information system is based on experience gained by other European countries. “First of all the company is attempting to reach a settlement with the client having overdues, and, if this process fails, he receives a notice. In case this is not sufficient, the company transmits the data on person or company having overdues to other companies active in this sector. Thus client who is not fulfilling his obligation has rather unfavorable conditions to negotiate better financial provisions in the other company”, says Mr. Andrius Bogdanovičius, Director General of credit bureau Creditinfo.

Insurers defaulting debtors administration information system is aimed at exchanging data only on those clients who are constantly attempting to abuse the system and deliberately are not fulfilling their obligations. Therefore clients who accidentally forgot to make their payments should not worry that their data is be included into the system.
